Adolescent substance abuse is america's #1 Public health problem.
Lindsay began her partnership with the drug prevention nonprofit, Natural High, in February of 2021 with a mission of inspiring and empowering youth to find their natural high and develop the skills and courage to live life well. Their evidence based program is used in all 50 states and makes use of current scientific findings on youth behavior, brain development, social norming, and substance abuse prevention. The latest scientific research speaks to the power of positive example, of engaging influencers to create change in culture, and of course — the power of the natural high. This research shows that when young people find their true passions — those activities that uplift, motivate, and inspire them — and are supported in these choices by family, friends, school, and community, they are more likely to avoid drugs and alcohol.
America is facing an addiction epidemic and 9 out of 10 addictions begin in the teen years. Research shows that if young people are directly engaged around the issue in a compelling way by people they look up to and trust, they are much less likely to choose drugs and alcohol. In fact, if middle schoolers choose not to consume drugs and alcohol, they are 14x less likely to ever become addicted.
As Miss Winter Park and a former collegiate dancer, Lindsay engages with students to help them discover those core activities in their life that uplift, inspire, and motivate them to find their "natural high" rather than use drugs or alcohol like she did at a young age and allowed her to live a happy and healthy life. She facilitates an ongoing discussion based on Natural High's collection of video stories told by influential members of society ranging from Olympians to musicians about their own experience avoiding drugs and alcohol. When these positive influencers tell their stories, you can count on the kids paying attention to this vital message.
In the Summer of 2021, Lindsay began a partnership with both Boys & Girls Club of America and YMCA of Central Florida to integrate Natural High as a weekly part of their summer program's curriculum. Covering over 30 locations, Lindsay has been able to connect with numerous students sharing her own story, imparting wisdom from famous influencers, and leading valuable workshops with the purpose of helping adolescents live naturally high and without the influence of drugs and alcohol.
